Erica Hightower MD
Endocrinologist
Dr. Erica Hightower first discovered her passion for diabetes technology in 2003 when she met her first insulin pump patient as a student at what is now the McGovern Medical School in Houston. After Internal Medicine residency at the same institution, she spent at year as Chief Medical Resident before her Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Fellowship. She has practiced advanced diabetes care in the Northwest Houston area since completing fellowship in 2010. Dr. Hightower’s focus is staying at the cutting edge of diabetes therapy and technology so that she can improve outcomes, reduce burden, and increase safety for her patients. The key to her success can be found in Dr. Francis Peabody’s wisdom from 1927: “The secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient.” She believes the best approach to diabetes care is an individual one, and she strives to serve her patients with compassion in a “no judgement” atmosphere. Dr. Hightower was born and raised in southeast Texas. In her personal time, she can be found running or strength training, volunteering at her church, or “glamping” with her husband and two boys.
