Dr. Cristina Ortiz Malavé graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2020. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System and was board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2024. She went on to complete her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a special interest in diabetes management.
During her fellowship, Dr. Ortiz Malavé conducted research and presented her work at national meetings, including those of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and the Endocrine Society, publishing her findings in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of both organizations and is fluent in English and Spanish.
Dr. Ortiz Malavé takes a thoughtful, individualized approach and is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered endocrine care every step of the way.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ortiz Malavé enjoys catching a good movie, curling up with a book, and staying active through Pilates. She also loves spending quality time with her husband and their dog.
