Dr. Damaris Vega is a board-certified Endocrinologist and the founder of Houston Endocrinology Center, which she established in 2011. Since its inception, the practice has grown to serve more than 30,000 patients, providing comprehensive and compassionate endocrine care to the community.
Dr. Vega graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Science. She went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in 2002. During medical school, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic excellence, serving as President of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and representing her institution at the Association of American Medical Colleges.
She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas in 2005, followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in 2007. During her fellowship, she was awarded an NIH grant and contributed to multiple research presentations and publications in the field of endocrinology. Since completing her training, Dr. Vega has practiced in both Dallas and Houston, earning recognition for her dedication to outstanding patient care.
Dr. Vega is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and has received the Patients’ Choice Award on multiple occasions. She is an active member of leading professional organizations, including the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American Diabetes Association, and the Endocrine Society.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Vega has served as a principal investigator at Juno Research LLC for over a decade, participating in more than 100 clinical trials focused on innovative treatments for diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and other chronic conditions. Following the recent merger of Juno Research LLC with JCCT, she continues her work as a principal investigator, contributing to advancements in patient care and medical research.
Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Vega enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending quality time with her husband and two teenage children, Lucas and Milo. She is deeply committed to treating every patient with the same compassion, respect, and attentiveness she would extend to her own family.
