Damaris Vega MD, Endocrinologist
Dr. Vega graduated magna cum laude from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in 1998 with her Bachelor’s Degree in General Science and subsequently earned her M.D. at the Ponce School of Medicine, Ponce, PR in 2002. During medical school, she served as president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and was selected as her school’s representative for the American Association of Medical Colleges. Dr. Vega’s interests in patient care brought her to the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas where she completed a residency in Internal Medicine (2005) and a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, Mineral and Metabolism (2007).
As a fellow, Dr. Vega was awarded an NIH grant that culminated in multiple research presentations and publications relating to the practice of Endocrinology. Since completing her medical training in 2007, she has worked as an Endocrinologist in the Dallas and Houston areas.
Dr. Vega is board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She was formally recognized for excellent patient care in 2010 by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, and she received the Patients’ Choice Award in 2008, 2009, and 2011. She is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, the American Diabetes Association, the Endocrine Society, and the National Association for Professional Women. She recently joined the Clinical Practice Organization at the Methodist Hospital System.
In her free time, Dr. Vega enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time with her husband and two young children, Lucas and Milo. She is a dedicated Endocrinologist who knows that each patient should be treated with the same care and respect as she would want for her family.
Peggy Murray, Registered Dietitian
Peggy Murray received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences in 2005 from Texas State University. In 2009, she completed a specialized postgraduate program at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and was awarded both her Registered Dietitian license and a Master’s Degree in Health and Behavioral Sciences. Peggy’s postgraduate research focused on measuring the feasibility and efficiency of digital pedometers in preschool-aged head start children.
Her professional career has been spent exclusively in the field of Endocrinology and Diabetes education. She has extensive knowledge in Diabetes management and the latest advances in Endocrinology care. In her spare time, Peggy works as a fitness and aerobics instructor, and she is very interested in all aspects of health and fitness.
